The director of a Ukrainian company is suspected of supplying the Armed Forces with substandard sleeping bags worth 30 million UAH.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have reported suspicions against the director of a company from Kryvyi Rih, which supplied 20,000 low-quality sleeping bags to one of the military units in 2023. For committing fraud on a particularly large scale, the official faces up to twelve years in prison with property confiscation.

As reported by the State Bureau of Investigation on December 26, the value of the sleeping bags was 30 million hryvnias; however, their quality did not allow them to be used for their intended purpose.

“According to the expert's conclusion, the fabric composition did not meet the specified requirements, and the sleeping bags also lacked essential elements: a fleece lining and a layer of special fabric that prevents air permeability. The military unit has filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for penalties amounting to 6 million UAH and the replacement of the sleeping bags with quality ones,” – stated the SBI.

The director of the Kryvyi Rih company has been informed of the suspicion of fraud committed on a particularly large scale. The article's sanction provides for imprisonment ranging from 5 to 12 years with property confiscation. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the involvement of military unit officials in the crime.
