The GUR has warned about Russian plans to stage provocations against the Coordination Headquarters for Prisoners of War.

The intelligence agency has urged Ukrainians not to trust individuals who offer assistance for a fee.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has reported that the Russians are preparing provocations against the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War. The corresponding announcement was published on Saturday, February 8, on its Telegram channel.

According to intelligence, the Russians plan to disseminate fake documents, specifically papers bearing the emblems and "header" of the Coordination Headquarters.

“The mentioned materials do not meet document circulation standards, contain the names of officials unrelated to the Headquarters, and fabricated names of supposedly regional divisions. These grossly forged documents do not withstand any scrutiny,” the intelligence report states.

It is noted that the aim of Russian propaganda is to discredit the work of state structures and sow distrust. The specific content of the documents prepared by the Russians has not been disclosed by the GUR; however, they urged Ukrainians to not trust unverified individuals and organizations that may offer assistance and to refrain from spreading misinformation.

“Any attempt to demand money for ‘services’ related to captive Ukrainians should be reported immediately to law enforcement agencies. We emphasize that all assistance from the specialists of the Coordination Headquarters is absolutely free,” the intelligence agency stated.

Recall that in 2023, the Russians attempted to orchestrate a coup in Ukraine through a large-scale information operation called “Maidan 3.” Their goal was to instill panic in Ukraine and incite hostility among Ukrainians. This information operation cost Russia $250 million, but it did not yield results.
