On Saturday, March 1, the Lviv Regional Council, during an extraordinary session, supported a statement backing the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The statement emphasizes that conducting negotiations regarding Ukraine without the Ukrainian side is unacceptable. A total of 57 deputies voted in favor.

“A huge thank you to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, for thanks to them, the president had the opportunity to defend the honor of the Ukrainian nation. Ukrainians never kneel. Only before the bodies of the fallen. It is not easy to maintain pressure in the Oval Office. Once, Winston Churchill had to choose between disgrace and war. We should not be ashamed, for we did not choose disgrace,” said Maksym Kozytskyi.

It should be noted that the urgent convening of the regional council session was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, late in the evening on February 28. He stressed that it is the deputies' duty to gather in full composition.

Additionally, the Zolochiv District Council was the first in Lviv region to express support for Volodymyr Zelensky during the session on February 28. The deputies unanimously voted for the statement.

It is worth mentioning that the urgent session of the regional council was convened following Volodymyr Zelensky's trip to the USA. During a meeting with Donald Trump, after which the presidents were supposed to sign an agreement on rare earth metals, a dispute arose. Trump accused Zelensky of disrespect towards the USA in the Oval Office and of being “unprepared for peace.” Zelensky left the White House early.

Support for Volodymyr Zelensky has been expressed by a number of world leaders, including those from Germany, Poland, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and others.
