The sequel to Disney's animated film "Moana 2" has climbed to 4th place in the ranking of the highest-grossing films of the year, surpassing another sequel, "Dune 2".

The new adventures of Moana and her friend, the demigod Maui, have earned $729.7 million at the box office, with $349.3 million coming from the U.S. market. Denis Villeneuve's star-studded film has a box office total of $714.4 million.

Additionally, "Moana 2" has become the third highest-grossing animated film of 2024, outpacing the adventure animation "Kung Fu Panda 4" with its $547.7 million.
