From December 26 to 29, the "Planeta Kino" cinema network will screen the documentary film "Malanka and Christmas." Tickets for the screenings can be purchased as a donation for the fundraising campaign “We Live Here 2.0” by the charity fund "Come Back Alive" and "Kyivstar." This was announced on the Ukraїner Facebook page.

The first part of the film reveals the ancient tradition of Malanka in the Bukovinian village of Ispas, where young people dress up as various characters, going from house to house to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

At the beginning of 2022, the celebration of Malanka in Bukovina was filmed. The main character, Dmytro Mazuryak, a Ukrainian musician and pipe player from the band Kazka, who makes Hutsul musical instruments, has been continuing the tradition of Malanka in his native Bukovinian village of Ispas for 15 years. Living in Kyiv, Dmytro returns to his homeland every year to organize the Malanka celebration. A month after the filming, a full-scale invasion begins. By the end of 2022, Ukrainian forces liberated a significant part of Slobozhanshchyna and Donetsk region. However, the residents continued to endure constant shelling, which intensified during the winter. To support the people of the east and bring ancient Ukrainian traditions back to the de-occupied territories, youth from all over Ukraine united and traveled there to perform a Christmas play.
