The restoration of the Roman Shukhevych Museum has begun in Lviv. Employees of LKP "Rembud" are carrying out preparatory work and clearing the area. Valuable items and details that were found have been preserved and will be used for reconstruction in the future. This was reported by the press service of the Lviv City Council.
During the clearing of the area, several valuable elements were discovered, which will be used in the reconstruction or exhibition of the museum; they have been transferred for safekeeping:
«Considering that every detail from the museum's ruins may have historical value, the work is being conducted very meticulously, with each element being selected for its potential significance. Once the project is ready and has passed expert evaluation, the city will initiate the procedure to select a general contractor for the museum's restoration and reconstruction. Simultaneously, negotiations are ongoing to involve reputable individuals in the supervisory board of the NGO "New Museum"», – noted Yevhen Boyko, the manager of the executive committee.
Currently, workers are dismantling the parquet and flooring and taking apart the stairs. At this stage, the area will be prepared for construction: engineering networks will be laid, the site will be cleared, and access roads will be established.
On December 16, a memorandum of cooperation for the restoration of the museum of General Roman Shukhevych of the UPA was signed at the Lviv City Council in Bilohoroshcha. The architectural competition selected a project for the museum's restoration. The architects have enhanced the project, taking into account the wishes of the working group, which includes Shukhevych's daughter Maria Tryliovska, historians, museum specialists, and architects. In addition to restoring the museum building itself, work is also underway to improve the surrounding area.
It is worth noting that on the night of January 1, a Russian drone struck the museum of General Roman Shukhevych of the UPA, resulting in part of the exhibition and almost the entire premises being burned down.
