Italy will contribute €13 million to the Fund for the Support of Ukraine's Energy Sector. The funds will be allocated for the purchase of equipment, repairs, and strengthening of the Ukrainian energy system amid Russian attacks. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine on Friday, February 28.
It is noted that the relevant agreement on Italy's contribution to the Fund was signed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Roman Andarak.
Since its establishment in April 2022, the Fund for the Support of Ukraine's Energy Sector has received over €1 billion in contributions from partners. The Fund's donors include governments and businesses from more than 30 countries, including EU member states, the United Kingdom, and the USA, as well as international and regional organizations.
“During its operation, the Fund has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector, enabling Ukrainian energy workers to restore energy facilities after Russian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities,” the agency added.
As reported by ZAXID.NET, on February 28, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine launched the “Ukrenergo” application, which will notify users about the status of the energy system in different regions. The application is available for download on Play Market and App Store.
