At the border checkpoints "Hrushev" and "Krakiwets," border guards from the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment uncovered three fake couples. This was reported on Thursday, December 26, by the State Border Guard Service.
At "Hrushev," two such pairs were recorded at once. A 43-year-old native of Cherkasy married a 53-year-old woman from the same region. The couple claimed they were traveling to visit the husband’s friend in Warsaw. Another couple insisted they were going to Poland to meet the husband’s mother’s sister. Interestingly, the man knew almost nothing about his wife and could not even name their shared living address. The couple was traveling from Cherkasy. Accompanied by the police, the 40-year-old woman and her 24-year-old companion left the checkpoint.
Another fake couple was discovered at "Krakiwets." A 47-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman claimed they were going to the United Kingdom for a visit.
The true motives behind their marriage will be investigated by law enforcement, as operational staff from the detachment have sent a report to the police regarding signs of a criminal offense under the article concerning the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine.
