Hot ears in cats often cause concern among owners. Ukr.Media discusses the possible reasons for this phenomenon.
In most cases, this is simply a characteristic of the fluffy one's thermoregulation. However, at times, hot ears may signal that there are health issues with your pet.
The most common reason for a rise in temperature in a cat (and consequently, hot ears) can be stress, such as from travel or encounters with strangers. This is a temporary occurrence, and the ears will return to a normal temperature as soon as the cat calms down.
Nevertheless, sometimes hot ears are indeed a cause for concern. If the cat shows lethargy, rapid breathing, or discharge from the ears, it indicates health problems. If the alarming signs persist, along with weakness and unusual behavior, the cat should be taken to a veterinarian.
