On the evening of Friday, February 28, the condition of Pope Francis, who was recently hospitalized with pneumonia, deteriorated significantly. Vatican News reported that the pontiff experienced a bronchospasm, which necessitated artificial respiratory support.
According to reports from the Vatican, the night of Saturday, March 1, Pope Francis had a peaceful night and is currently resting. However, on the evening of Friday, February 28, Francis's health sharply declined.
Vatican News stated that due to an isolated bronchospasm, doctors were compelled to perform non-invasive artificial ventilation. The pontiff's respiratory indicators returned to levels similar to those prior to the bronchospasm attack.
To assess Francis's clinical condition, doctors require between 24 to 48 hours.
It is worth noting that on February 14, the 88-year-old Pope was hospitalized in critical condition at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome. As of February 22, his condition remained critical – the Pope was diagnosed with double pneumonia and signs of mild kidney failure.
The pontiff also experienced a respiratory crisis, requiring a blood transfusion. Believers from around the world gather outside the Gemelli clinic, laying flowers and praying for the Pope's health.
