A fatal traffic accident occurred in Ternopil. A 42-year-old female pedestrian lost her life, while three others sustained injuries. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ternopil region.
The accident took place on Friday, February 7, around 9:30 PM on Mykulyntsi Street. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of a Volkswagen Passat struck the 42-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the road. Following this, three other vehicles, including a Renault Trafic, Volkswagen CC, and Skoda Octavia, collided with the initial car.
As a result of the incident, the woman hit by the Volkswagen Passat succumbed to her injuries while en route to the hospital in an ambulance. Passengers in the Skoda Octavia were also injured; however, they did not require hospitalization and received medical assistance at the scene.
The authorities have recorded the details of the accident in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violating traffic safety regulations or vehicle operation by individuals in control of vehicles, resulting in the death of a victim). The police are currently investigating all circumstances surrounding the accident.
It is worth noting that on February 7, in Lviv, a trolleybus hit a 74-year-old woman at a public transport stop, and she died in the ambulance.
