Starting from the new year, "Ukrposhta" will introduce new tariffs for domestic parcel shipping. The company will implement a pricing model based on the volume of the box in which the parcel is packed, rather than its actual weight, reported the press service of "Ukrposhta" on Monday, December 23.
The new tariffs will take effect on January 1, 2025. The company stated that these changes were made possible due to the modernization of the sorting system. It was noted that full automation of the sorting process was achieved in 2024.
“For the first time in the company’s history and in the market of postal transport in Ukraine, the cost of sending will depend not on weight but on the volume of the box in which the parcel is packed. The weight of the parcel will be used solely for ensuring the integrity of the shipment, as well as for operational processes related to the specifics of sorting and transporting parcels,” the press service of "Ukrposhta" reported.
The company explained that shipments will be carried out under two tariff plans: “Basic” and “Priority.” The “Basic” plan will be the most cost-effective, while the “Priority” plan will offer expedited processing and delivery of parcels.
The cost will be determined by the volume of the box in which the parcel is packed – the volume-based tariff will be uniform regardless of the parcel's weight. It is noted that the maximum weight for a single tariff will be no more than 30 kg. Parcels exceeding 30 kg will be transported on pallets, according to the tariffs for pallet transport.
What specific volume-based shipping tariffs will the company introduce is currently unknown. Meanwhile, the press service of "Ukrposhta" stated that the company's tariffs “remain the most competitive on the market,” and the lowest tariff (45 UAH) will remain valid even after January 1, 2025.
Recall that in August 2024, the company announced it would start delivering foreign passports for six dollars, reducing the price by more than tenfold. Previously, foreign documents were sent by international commercial companies for over 70 dollars.
