With the onset of the winter season, drivers face an important task – properly storing summer tires. Incorrect storage conditions can worsen their condition and reduce their lifespan. Experts have shared how to create optimal conditions for tire storage, according to Avtosota.
Storage location: Summer tires should be kept in a dry, well-ventilated area. The ideal temperature for storage is between +5 and +25 degrees. A garage or basement is suitable, but it is crucial to eliminate excess moisture and significant temperature fluctuations.
Avoid sunlight: Direct sunlight damages the rubber structure, so tires should not be left on balconies or in other places where they will be exposed to ultraviolet radiation.
Correct tire positioning: If the tires are stored with rims, they can be placed horizontally, stacked on top of each other, or vertically. Without rims, it is better to hang the tires on special mounts to avoid deformation.
Tires should not be stored in high humidity conditions, near heat sources, or chemicals that could harm the rubber. It is also not advisable to leave tires outdoors.
