The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is increasing the size of his army to continue the war against Ukraine. This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday, February 8.
Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned that the new head of NATO's Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavò Dragone, is currently visiting Ukraine. The President of Ukraine discussed preparations for the Contact Group meeting in the "Ramstein" format and the needs for joint defense with him.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russia is expanding its army. This includes the creation of new divisions and the development of military production. Furthermore, the president stated that Russia plans to continue expanding its cooperation with North Korea.
“This indicates a simple fact: Putin is not preparing for negotiations or for peace, but for the continuation of the war, not only against us, but against Ukraine. They are currently increasing their army by more than 100,000 soldiers,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.
The President emphasized that Ukraine will inform all partners about Russia's plans and that “corresponding communication is already occurring through intelligence channels.” Volodymyr Zelensky noted that each country will need to strengthen its defense and that “the goal of 5% of GDP for defense will not disappear from the agenda.”
Recall that at the end of January, it became known that North Korean fighters were withdrawn from the front line after suffering significant losses in the Kursk direction. This information was later confirmed by South Korean intelligence. However, on Friday, February 7, Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the Russian army has again begun to use North Korean soldiers' units for combat in the Kursk region.
