In Ukraine, there may be an increase in penalties for violating the curfew. The relevant draft law has been submitted by the Cabinet to the Parliament. This was reported by the Cabinet's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, on Telegram.
According to him, the Cabinet has introduced draft law No. 12354 to the Parliament, which proposes to enhance responsibility for violating the requirements of the special legal regime — martial law.
Melnychuk clarified that the document includes an addition to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (KUPAP) with a new article 210-2. Thus, administrative responsibility may be established for violations of martial law requirements.
This concerns administrative responsibility for:
- violating entry (access) rules, staying in populated areas from which a mandatory evacuation is being conducted, without specially issued passes or identification;
- citizens violating the curfew.
Additionally, amendments to the KUPAP are proposed to grant police the authority to carry out administrative detention of violators.
It is worth noting that the text of the draft law is not yet available on the Parliament's website.
