The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement has supported the draft law No. 12191 on the decriminalization of pornography. This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the "Holos" party.

"This version is more conservative and has been prepared over the past year through discussions with the committee and working group. I hope that at the beginning of next year we will be able to bring it to the floor.

Once again for the media — this is specifically about the decriminalization of pornography. This is not 'legalization of pornography' — it has already been legalized, and for a couple of years now we have been collecting millions in taxes from platforms like OnlyFans!

We are simply amending Article 301 of the Criminal Code so that adults are not imprisoned for 3-5 years for filming and distributing intimate videos.

This is 'decriminalization of pornography.' So that people are not sent to prison for possessing content or subjected to mass 'secret purchases' in webcams. And at the same time, under Article 301, you can even be punished for storing naked photos on your personal phone," Zheleznyak wrote.

He noted that there will be many revisions before the second reading, and the law will still be worked on.

The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy, Danilo Hetmantsev, stated that he will vote for the bill.

"I thank the law enforcement committee of the Verkhovna Rada, which finally recommended the approval of draft law 12191 on the decriminalization of pornography, which amends the infamous Article 301 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

I am convinced that moralizing about the distribution of pornographic content alongside its unhindered distribution with tax payments — by the way, taxes are collected from it — is hypocrisy that corrodes public morality much more than any pornography," Hetmantsev wrote.
