Verbatim from SBU: "As a result of comprehensive measures, the head of one of the regional branches of a well-known party was caught 'in the act,' demanding a bribe of 1 million US dollars from a private entrepreneur.

According to the case materials, in exchange for this amount, the politician promised to 'resolve the land issue' that the businessman faced with officials from the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).

Details: According to sources from UP, this concerns the head of the 'UDAR of Vitali Klitschko' party in the Odessa region, Alexander Sukhanov.

The SBU reports that Sukhanov guaranteed that the entrepreneur would be able to rent a plot of land in the recreational area of Kyiv near the Dnieper River, which is under the control of the Kyiv community. The Office of the Prosecutor General noted that this pertains to a boat station located in the coastal zone of the Obolon district of Kyiv in the 'Natalka' park.

The businessman had already attempted to obtain permission from the KCSA officially, but he was denied, citing artificially created bureaucratic barriers.

Subsequently, a politician approached the head of the private company, introducing himself as a lawyer and offering to rent the plot in exchange for a bribe of 1 million dollars.

During meetings, Sukhanov stated that he had connections in the Kyiv City Council and could assist in securing the lease of a 0.5-hectare land plot for 25 years.

For this sum, he 'guaranteed' to coordinate the land issue in the relevant commission and during sessions of the Kyiv City Council.

Law enforcement detained the politician-lawyer in Kyiv 'in the act' when he was handed 900,000 dollars as an 'advance.'

The detainee has been informed of the suspicion under part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud committed on a particularly large scale or by an organized group). The article's sanctions provide for a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment.

Currently, a decision is being made regarding the suspect's preventive measure. Law enforcement has prepared a request for his detention with an alternative bail of 38 million UAH.

Comprehensive measures are ongoing to establish all circumstances of the crime. Law enforcement is conducting searches in the offices of the KCSA.
