Details: Vereshchuk described the decision by the U.S. to freeze funding for projects by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for 90 days as "unexpected and unpleasant news."
"We will soon begin substantive consultations with our American partners to expedite the continuation of funding for humanitarian response projects in Ukraine," she announced.
The Deputy Head of the Office of the President meanwhile urged teams involved in USAID-funded projects to "retain personnel and their developments."
Last week, it should be noted, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered a halt to all new foreign aid disbursements pending review.
Officials and NGO staff in Ukraine warned that without the approval of the new Secretary of State, programs such as support for schools and hospitals, as well as efforts to develop economic and energy infrastructure, could be at risk of disruption.
In Rubio's directive, there are some exceptions, particularly regarding military funding for Israel and Egypt, as well as foreign emergency food assistance.
At the same time, U.S. military aid is not subject to the freeze order and continues to flow into Ukraine according to the decisions of the previous administration of Joe Biden.
